Zak & Kate: A Giants man and his beautiful bride-to-be

We are delighted to be entrenched in the wedding details for Kate and Zak whose big day is just under 100 days out.  As shown in these sneak peek engagement shoot images (credit Ahmet Ze Photography) Kate and Zak are simply the perfect combination of gorgeous, FUN, and brilliant.  Well you don’t see the brilliant part but we do in our work with them.  And to top it off, the 6 Degrees of Celebration team has even more of a reason to root for the NY GIANTS since Zak is their long snapper.  GO ZAK!  GO GMEN, you can do it!  Apologies to our clients who root for the Pats… we are not anything if not honest.

Pantone’s Color of the Year: Tangerine Tango

Our team was so excited when we found out Pantone’s color of the year 2012 is a gorgeous “Tangerine Tango”, a bold hue of coral. We really like it set against creams, neutrals, pinks, and muted shades of green.

Here we paired the hue with ivory, mustard, dusty rose and sage to create a dazzling palette that is perfect for a lively reception. The lush color is a great choice for bridesmaids dresses as it compliments every shade of skin tone beautifully. We love the way that a bright coral ribbon livens up a bridal bouquet made of delicate cream-colored flowers such as gardenias mixed with huckleberry greens. Stationary and linens can be kept simple in crisp whites and ivories with pops of coral and green throughout.

We are already seeing the vibrant shade showing up everywhere from runway fashions to home design. Using it in your next event is sure to make a dazzling impression!

KC and Greg’s wedding totally makes my heart happy with its carefree attitude and super pretty surroundings. Creative KC infused rustic meets vintage meets vineyard combining whimsical elements that blended so perfectly in what can only be described as one of my favorite weddings of the year.

A 40th Birthday Surprise at Natirar

It is rare that we do not get the opportunity to meet a guest of honor until the day of an event. That is exactly what happened, however, when we offered our gifted event planning services at Natirar in Peapack-Gladstone, NJ for the celebration of Meaghan’s Surprise 40th Birthday.

The historic estate is tucked away in the lush hills of Somerset County, where guests enjoyed its rustic elegance set aside the luxurious tranquility of the natural landscape. This exquisite setting is one of our favorite venues and the ideal location for this gorgeous party!

Natirar Party

Meaghan’s gracious and generous husband Ken called upon the 6 Degrees of Celebration team to pull off this event in just a couple of months.  The surprise party started out with cocktails in the beautiful mansion that showed photos of Meaghan throughout her life while a five-piece jazz ensemble serenaded the crowd. After cocktail hour, the guests were invited into the dinner tent where a combination of wood farm tables, tall cocktail tables and lounge seating overlooking the dance floor provided maximum mingling. A fourteen-piece high energy band entertained the guests while they were served delicious and wonderfully fresh gourmet food.

Natirar Party

We utilized Meaghan’s favorite colors such as soft slate blue, lavender and pale pink in the fabrics for table linens, sofas and chair covers. Her favorite flowers which included pink peonies, blue hydrangeas, lavender lilacs and cherry blossoms were also incorporated into the décor.

Who Can Resist a Late Night Snack?

Forget about what you are serving for dinner.  What are you serving after dinner?
Late night snacks… the fun stuff to eat.  It’s not about chicken or beef, it’s about what you would love to eat at 2am after a night of dancing and dare we say maybe a few too many cocktails……

These yummies are best served on the way out the door.  Have a table full of individual ‘to-go’ items or better yet, go with the latest FAD around town— the food truck.

Moveable Feasts we love:
Stace of Cakes, gourmet cupcakes on wheels.  Who can resist a red velvet cupcake at 1am.  We dare you to try to save it for your morning coffee.
In and Out Burger Truck (or Fatburger Mobile— just as good)  A double cheeseburger, milkshake and fries.  What a way to end the night.
Wafels & Dinges – I am a complete sucker for breakfast at any point in the day.  And it’s practically time for breakfast anyway!

Sometimes the logistics simply don’t work for a truck to arrive at midnight.  In that case we also love the idea of sending guests home with something fun and memorable.  Warm cookies attached to a mini-jug of milk.  Grilled cheese with shooters of warm tomato soup.  If the venue has a fire pit make it the last stop in the evening for your friends to grill up some s’mores.  They’ll be asking for you to host s’more great parties.  Popcorn, in lots of different flavors.  Salty and sweet.  We bet no one will be ordering room service.

Why Choose a Wedding Planner?

Let’s face it, weddings and other events are planned quite often without the help of a professional planner.  Some think our services are a luxury.  Gosh, I have even been in meetings where a catering manager tells a client (in front of me) that they do not need a planner.  WOW.  Those are the people who have no idea what a professional experienced event planner offers to a client.

For one thing many of our clients are super busy professionals who have a vision of what they want their wedding to be but do not have the time to dedicate to bring that vision to life.  The process of venue and vendor research is extremely time consuming.  The last time I checked the Knot there were almost 100 photographers in the NYC / NJ market.  How can a busy couple distinguish between someone who bought a camera last year and threw together a website, from seasoned professional who has photographed hundreds of events in the style that the client is asking for.  My team has developed relationships with vendors we are confident in recommending because they are talented, reliable, and essentially the best in the business.  I have a knack for partnering certain vendors with certain clients.  The personalities have to click.  There is nothing worse than experiencing a brides annoyance with a particular vendor.  If a planner does her job correctly this should not happen.

Who wants a cookie cutter wedding?  None of the brides I work with.  I constantly get calls from couples who are looking for something unique, whether it be the venue, design, or simply one detail that makes their wedding different from the 10 others they will attend this year.  My team makes that happen.  We spend the time to get to know you as a couple so that we can incorporate your personality into the event.  Perhaps there is something unique about where you met, where you got engaged, college, family.  Whatever it is, our focus is to make this about you, not about us.

My team will do WHATEVER it takes to keep you calm, cool and oblivious.   Sometimes things go wrong that are out of our control.  Mother Nature does not always provide a sunny 60 degree day.   Blizzard?  We have been there.  The officiant had to cancel, he could not get to the hotel.  I called the local mayor, explained the situation and jumped in my Jeep to pick him up to perform the ceremony.    The band could not make it either.  This could have been a disaster but fortunately I have solid relationships with some fantastic musicians and was able to pull together a band at the last minute.  If this bride did not have 6 Degrees of Celebration as her planner and tried to do it herself, what would have happened?  She would not have had a wedding that day.  This is a worst case scenario but things happen.  We fix them and for the most part you will not know until after the wedding if at all.

Support… there are weddings that happen where I do not meet the groom until the wedding day.  Many men are not all that interested in selecting flowers and discussing seating arrangements.  Sometimes the mother of the bride lives far away and cannot help with these details or is busy with her own professional life, or as some have told me, would like to keep the peace and therefore do not want to become overly involved with the plans.  We are your planning partner.  We do not make your decisions but provide you with the tools needed to make the right decisions.   The catering manager who told my bride that she does not need a planner leaves the office at 5:30pm every evening.  She will not go to your bridal gown fittings with you. She will not attend the sample centerpiece meeting.  Her experience is limited to the events she sees at venue at which she works. If your wedding ceremony is held off site at a church or other location, the catering manager is not there to set this up or to line up the bridal party or to cue the musicians.  Only a planner will do that.

Experience…Well known and respected planners have been doing this successfully for quite some time.  I am amazed by the increase in “planners” in the market lately.  Some brides enjoy the planning process to much they try to make it their living.  Planning one event does not a wedding planner make.  I cannot recall a time when I or anyone on my team was unable to provide a client with something that was  needed in the planning process regardless of how unique the request may have been.  Inexperienced planners will cost you time, money and in long run perhaps the memory of a perfectly planned and flawlessly executed event.  Ask for referrals, both from former clients and industry professionals.

More to come….

Megan & Zach’s Vineyard Wedding

Like many of our clients, Megan came to us initially to help find a unique wedding venue that had a combination of traditional elegance with touches of organic and rustic elements. She and Zack chose Crossing Vineyards, a spectacular venue in Washington Crossing, PA. And the ‘no rain’ prayers all worked because it could not have been a more beautiful day.  Amazing how the sun set at just the right moment for their portrait session.  The temperature was ideal for an outdoor wedding in September. Their happiness glowed… just look at their smiles.  Tania Lezak Photography was a dream to work with. We are already planning another Crossing Vineyards wedding, but this time for one of our 6 Degrees planners!  For more of the delicious details go to our Facebook page or www.tanialezakblog.com

Kimberly & Anthony’s Wedding

I am a sucker for a good old fashioned love story.  I married my childhood sweetheart!  So suffice it to say that when  the opportunity arose to work with Kimberly and Anthony who grew up next door to each other, I jumped at it.    While you will see gorgeous images, look at the emotion in their faces.  Simply breathtaking and beautiful.  A testament in a way to not having to worry about any of the wedding details.  Thank you to Ahmet Ze Photography for providing these amazing photographs.  What a pleasure he and his team were to work with.  Anna from Flower Elegance in Fair Lawn did an amazing job at transforming Kimberly’s vision into a stunning reality.  And of course the entire team at the Palace at Somerset Park was spectacular to work with as always
